The time it takes to build a home depends on the size and complexity of the project. On average, it takes between 9 to 12 months to build a home.
Yes, most provide a ten-year warranty, and some a 20-yr warranty* on all of their homes to cover any defects or issues that may arise. *Year one is "bumper-to-bumper", year one-two is mechanical, and years one-ten/twenty are structural. We will always refer to the warranty booklet provided by the builder prior to contract for more information.
It is difficult, virtually impossible, to quote price per square foot because every home is different. Many factors affect the $/SF, including but not limited to Site Costs, Construction Materials, Roofing Materials, Selections, Non-Living spaces (i.e. Garages, Porches, Patios), etc. It is best to start with a budget and work with us to select or design a plan that fits your needs, wants, and lifestyle, while staying within budget. This will help us pair you with the right builder for your budget.
Site costs are all the costs necessary to prepare the land for your home; such as clearing & road access. As well as, but not limited to other costs such as foundation elevation deviations, driveways & sidewalks, culverts, road base materials, utility connections, septic systems, water wells, municipalities, permits, fees, etc. We will visit your land prior to selecting your builder and again with the builder, prior to contract, to determine your estimates Site Costs.
We cannot say one is less expensive than the other due to the many variables. If you are building a simple barndominium with very little features, it may be less expensive due to the project. However, you can also build a simple home with very few high end features and be less expensive. Keep in mind, many bardominiums are simply a house built within a structure - basically two structures in one - therefore, they can generally be more expensive than a traditional built home. The better question is which style do you prefer, and let us guide you to a preferred builder that can stay within your budget for your dream!
